Chapter 1 of 16

Welcome & Company Introduction

[1.1]Welcome Letter

[1.1.1]Message from Leadership

Welcome to 47G.

You are joining an organization dedicated to strengthening the aerospace and defense industry by building the premier hard tech and dual-use ecosystem in the United States.

We accelerate growth for companies through our services, programs, initiatives, and networks. Our guiding purpose is to convene, promote, and advocate for aerospace, defense, and hard tech companies.

Through the 47G Institute, we also advance Utah’s leadership in advanced materials and manufacturing, strengthening the industrial base that supports national security, economic resilience, and American innovation. This work carries significant responsibility. Utah’s hard tech ecosystem represents 500,000+ direct, indirect, and induced jobs and 20% of Utah’s economy, generating $100 billion in total economic output, while the companies, installations, universities, manufacturers, policymakers, and innovators within this ecosystem develop capabilities that matter to the future of the country.

This handbook outlines the policies, expectations, and standards that guide how we work, make decisions, serve our partners, and represent 47G. It supports a safe, respectful, productive, and accountable workplace where every employee is expected to act with integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and ownership. We communicate clearly, follow through on commitments, treat others with respect, and protect the trust placed in 47G by our members, partners, public officials, investors, and colleagues.

Your work plays a direct role in advancing 47G’s mission. Whether you support an industry event, policy priority, member relationship, workforce initiative, advanced manufacturing program, or internal operation, every function contributes to the larger mission. While this handbook cannot address every circumstance, it establishes the principles that should guide daily decisions. When questions arise, employees should seek clarity, act in good faith, and exercise judgment consistent with 47G’s values and responsibilities.

We are glad you are here. Your contributions strengthen 47G, support the companies and partners we serve, and help forge the next horizon of aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, and hard tech.

Proudly Built in America.

[1.1.2]Purpose of the Handbook

This handbook introduces employees to the policies, practices, expectations, and operating standards that guide employment with 47G. It is intended to provide employees with a clear understanding of how the organization works, how decisions are made, and how employees are expected to conduct themselves while representing 47G.

The handbook serves three primary purposes.

First, it is a culture document. It reflects the mission-oriented, high-performance, pioneering ethos that defines 47G.

Second, it is an onboarding and communication tool. It gives employees a shared foundation for understanding the organization, its standards, and the responsibilities that come with working in a national-caliber ecosystem.

Third, it is a consistency and risk-management resource. It provides a professional structure for applying policies fairly, documenting expectations clearly, and supporting sound decision-making across the organization.

[1.1.3]Statement of Support for Employees

47G is committed to supporting employees with clarity, trust, and accountability. The organization expects high standards of performance and conduct, and it also recognizes that employees need clear direction, responsive leadership, professional development, and a workplace grounded in respect.

Employees are encouraged to ask questions, seek guidance, raise concerns early, and take ownership of their work. 47G’s leaders are responsible for helping employees understand expectations, remove unnecessary barriers, and support the alignment between individual roles and the broader mission.

[1.1.4]How Employees Should Use the Handbook

Employees should use this handbook as a daily reference for employment policies, workplace expectations, benefits, conduct standards, reporting procedures, and operational practices.

Employees are responsible for reading, understanding, and following the policies in this handbook. When a policy is unclear, employees should seek clarification from their supervisor, Human Resources, or authorized leadership before taking action.

This handbook does not replace sound judgment. Employees are expected to apply its policies with professionalism, good faith, and alignment with 47G’s mission, values, and legal responsibilities.

[1.2]Company Overview

[1.2.1]Company History

47G was built on the belief that Utah can lead the nation in aerospace, defense, dual-use technology, advanced manufacturing, and hard tech.

The name itself reflects two defining legacies. “47” honors the pioneering spirit of Utah’s founding in 1847, shaped by people who created enduring infrastructure and opportunity through resilience, discipline, and long-range vision. “G” reflects the pursuit of velocity, endurance, and technical excellence inspired by the aerospace community and the historic achievement of test pilot John Stapp, who, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, in 1954, endured 46.2 G-forces in the advancement of aerospace safety and human performance.

Together, those ideas represent the foundation of 47G: grounded grit paired with forward momentum.

47G was established to convene industry leaders, government partners, academic institutions, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and investors around a shared objective: building America’s premier ecosystem for aerospace, defense, and hard tech innovation. As Utah’s aerospace and defense sector accelerated into one of the most economically significant industries in the state, the need for coordinated leadership, workforce alignment, policy advocacy, supply-chain development, and ecosystem execution became increasingly clear.

Today, 47G serves as a statewide coalition advancing strategic growth across aerospace, defense, cyber, energy, autonomy, advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, AI, and frontier technologies. Through convenings, public-private partnerships, workforce initiatives, policy engagement, technical programs, and national advocacy, 47G helps position Utah as America’s hard tech frontier.

Our work is rooted in operational reality. We believe ecosystems are built through execution, trust, long-term relationships, and measurable outcomes that strengthen national security, economic resilience, and industrial capability.

[1.2.4]Purpose Statement

[1.2.5]Core Values

• Mission First

We work as one team with one mission — relying on and supporting each other as much as we rely on clarity of purpose and a long-term perspective. We lead with a giver mindset, putting the mission and our contribution ahead of personal credit, and we build alignment across industry, government, academia, and the broader ecosystem to strengthen aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, and hard tech.

• Integrity Without Exception

Trust is foundational. We communicate clearly, candidly, and directly to drive alignment, act ethically, honor our commitments, and protect the credibility of 47G through disciplined conduct and professional accountability.

• Build with Excellence

Details matter, and consistency matters more than intensity. We bring a growth mindset to every program, convening, partnership, policy effort, and internal operation — pursuing high standards, thoughtful execution, and continuous improvement — and we follow through on our commitments every time, not just when it’s easy.

• Pioneer Mentality

We dream big and act boldly, pairing vision with execution. We bring grit to every challenge — the perseverance to embrace hard problems, new frontiers, long-term thinking, and the willingness to build what doesn’t yet exist.

• Stewardship and Responsibility

Our work shapes industries connected to national security, public trust, workforce opportunity, and economic growth. We carry that responsibility with seriousness, professionalism, and gratitude — staying grounded in what we’ve been entrusted with — and we take the time to celebrate progress, recognize our people and partners, and honor the achievements that move the mission forward.

[1.2.6]Culture and Workplace Philosophy

47G is built around a high-performance, mission-oriented culture grounded in professionalism, accountability, and mutual respect.

We value employees who take ownership, solve problems proactively, communicate clearly, and contribute positively to the broader organization. We believe strong teams are built through trust, consistency, humility, and a shared commitment to excellence.

Our workplace culture is collaborative but disciplined. Employees are encouraged to think strategically, move with urgency when needed, and maintain a solutions-oriented mindset. At the same time, we recognize that sustainable performance requires balance, sound judgment, and support for professional growth.

We aim to create an environment where talented people can do meaningful work alongside respected partners across industry, government, academia, manufacturing, and the public sector. Every role at 47G contributes to a broader mission larger than any single department, program, or initiative.

We also believe culture is shaped through conduct, not slogans. Professionalism, preparedness, responsiveness, reliability, and respect are expected standards across the organization.
