FrostByte Defense Technologies
FrostByte Defense Technologies develops smart heating technology to prevent cold-weather injuries such as frostbite. Our core product is a sensor-integrated heated glove liner that monitors finger temperature and delivers targeted heat to each finger. It keeps hands warm and functional without the bulk that limits dexterity, weapon handling, and equipment operation while prolonging battery life.
Rather than manufacturing gloves ourselves, FrostByte designs the embedded electronics: the sensors, heating elements, and control circuitry. We then partner with established glove and apparel manufacturers to build our technology into their products.
Our primary market is defense, supporting warfighters who operate in Arctic and cold-weather environments. In 2026, FrostByte prototypes were field-tested with Special Operations Forces at -40°F in Fairbanks, Alaska. We also serve industrial workers in cold environments and the winter recreation market. FrostByte grew out of neuroengineering research at the University of Utah and is backed by non-dilutive defense and university funding.
