Rod Lacey
Rod Lacey brings more than 30 years of progressive HR experience, most of it spent on executive teams helping high-growth organizations scale, strengthen their cultures, and navigate change. Companies he helped lead earned local, statewide, and national recognition for their people programs and award-winning cultures, yet Rod has always remained a hands-on practitioner in employment law, compliance, compensation, HR technology, and organizational design.
In 2017, Rod founded Sunstone HR Consulting, pioneering the fractional HR model before the term was widely used. Today, Sunstone's consultants serve clients from coast to coast, and Sunstone HR's clients span nearly every U.S. state as well as international organizations.
Rod is also a Professional in Residence at Utah Valley University, teaching in the Human Resource Management degree program, where his 'RateMyProfessors' rating is 4.9 out of 5.
He holds a BS in Management and an MBA from Idaho State University and completed the Advanced Human Resource Executive Program at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. A history enthusiast who has lived in Scandinavia and speaks Norwegian, Rod named Sunstone HR Consulting after the Viking navigational "sunstone" (solarstein).
