David Young

Co-Founder

David Young is a prolific brand strategist and creative leader with a portfolio that includes many of the world’s most recognizable brands. Young launched his career as a design intern working on the American Express account, which he followed with a commission to work on the 1996 Olympics campaign for Adidas. The Adidas campaign was a success that led to a 13-year position with Nike where he crafted several successful brands and campaigns.

Young gained global marketing experience working on Nike’s 2000 Sydney Olympics products and initiatives, while living in Hong Kong. He went on to serve as creative director for Nike Golf during a period of unprecedented growth for that category. Next, he went to work establishing Nike’s innovative technology division and with Steve Jobs helped to create the Nike+ product line in partnership with Apple Inc. He completed his tenure at Nike as creative director for Nike Basketball, overseeing the resurgence of the brand during the successful gold-medal campaign of the 2008 Olympic team in Beijing.

In 2010, Young developed a men’s urban apparel line, then founded 7D8—a brand strategy and creative studio—in 2012. Based in Salt Lake City, UT, 7D8 worked with a variety of companies, including global names like MIT, Adobe, The New York Times, and continued projects with Nike. In 2020, Young was commissioned by the Utah Jazz NBA franchise to significantly expand their creative team. Over the course of three years, he worked with the team to revitalize their brand and host the world at the 2023 All-Star game.

Today, Young continues to innovate, co-founding a new, independent studio focused on brand strategy and creative execution, which is scheduled to launch in early 2024.
